Mika Boorem is an American actress, filmmaker and philanthropist.

Mika es actriz, directora, guionista y productora en Los Ángeles, California. Ha participado en más de 40 grandes películas y series de televisión.  Aunque es más conocida por su carrera como actriz que comenzó en 1994, Mika empezó a dirigir y producir obras de teatro en 2010.  Ha acumulado respetables créditos en su filmografía trabajando junto a muchos de los actores más reconocidos de la industria del cine en Hollywood.  Entre ellos, Lawrence Bender, Brian Grazer, Penny Marshall, Scott Hicks, Drew Barrymore, Shirley McClaine, Roland Emmerich, John Carpenter, Rodrigo García, Mel Gibson, Anthony Hopkins, Lee Tamahori y Morgan Freeman; por nombrar algunos.  El trabajo de Mika ha sido aclamado por la crítica y ha sido nominado a numerosos premios.

BIO

Mika Boorem is an American philanthropist, filmmaker and actress based in Los Angeles, California and St John, U.S. Virgin Islands. Boorem is well-known for her acting career which includes over 40 major motion pictures and network television series roles. She has recently completed her first narrative feature length film, Hollywood.con, as a director. (check out the trailer here)   

Hollywood.con stars Tom Arnold (True Lies), Mika Boorem (The Patriot, Blue Crush, Along Came a Spider) Devin Ratray (HBO's series Mosaic, Nebraska, Masterminds, Blue Ruin, Netflix's series Russian Dolls), Brian Krause (Blue Lagoon, Charmed), Cody Kasch (Desperate Housewives), and Paige Howard (Adventureland). Boorem was involved with the financing, producing, writing, directing and acting of this film. Hollywood.con is a commercial adventure comedy which includes locations in Mexico, Arizona, Texas, California, and Guatemala. Boorem's other producing and directing experience include a documentary series titled "Gem Hunter" about gemstone quests internationally. Her short films have played Academy qualifying film festivals and won several awards. 

Mika has built up a respectable filmography as an actress. She has worked under many of the industry's most highly regarded players; Lawrence Bender, Brian Grazer, Penny Marshall, Scott Hicks, Drew Barrymore, Shirley MacLaine, Roland Emmerich, John Carpenter, Rodrigo Garcia, Mel Gibson, Anthony Hopkins, Lee Tamahori, and Morgan Freeman to name a few. Her work has received critical acclaim and she has won several awards including a Prism Award for her role in Augusta Gone. Mika has been fundraising for non-profits since 2010. Her philanthropic work includes such notable organizations as Operation Smile, Northern California Special Olympics, UCLA Mattel Children's Hospital, Red Cross and Salvation Army. She is the co-founder of the non-profit, Madakilonga.  

Boorem is a member of the Alliance of Women Directors (AWD), New York Women in Film and Television (NYWIFT) and the Screen Actors Guild (SAG, since 1997).

ARTIST STATEMENT

Boorem strives to create works that urge us to contemplate how our inner perceptions and actual outward worlds cooperate and clash. She reveals her hand with the creation of seemingly simple narratives that progressively become more complex and unexpected. She selects projects intuitively for what she describes as their immediate attraction. Her main influences are David Lynch and Gregory Crewdson.

NEWS

Mika recently returned from a speaking tour in the mid-west where she spoke with students from high schools and colleges about acting, filmmaking and her latest film, Hollywood.Con. Check out some of the recent press links on the homepage.

She just wrapped directing and acting in music video 'Cruise' by Austin Sands. The video will be released mid December 2021. 

 

Winner of 'Music Video of the year' award at the largest independent music awards for video 'Catch Me If You Can' by Travis Tidwell. Mika directs this video and appears in this video.
